Bengaluru: 24-year-old MBA student raped during birthday party

Bengaluru, Feb 12: A 24-year-old student who is currently studying MBA was raped by a flat mate of her Facebook friend during the birthday party. The incident happened in HAL area on Saturday night, according to TOI.

The accused arrested has been identified as Adithya K who is from Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh and is currently residing in Doddanekkundi near HAL area. Adithya is working with a priate firm in Marthalli and shared a flat with Arif whom the MBA student had befriended.

Arif had invited MBA student for his birthday. The trio partied and consumed alcohol, after which when the victim went to take some rest. Arif stepped out to bring food for his friends. Adithya then entered the room and started assaulting her. She could not push him away as she was in an inebriated condition. When he returned the victim narrated her ordeal to him. She rushed to the police station early Sunday morning and filed a rape case against Adithya.

Based on the complaint filed by the student, the police arrested the accused and sent him to Parappana Agrahara central jail. However, the victim later wanted to withdraw the case following a request from her friend, but the police have refused, saying the FIR has already been registered and she has to undergo a full medical test as per law.

During interrogation, Adithya confessed to the crime. He claimed that he was under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened. The police also questioned Arif and recorded his statement. Arif said that he became friends with the MBA student on Facebook few months agoo and that she is also from Andhra Pradesh.
