Bengalis, 'Nolen Gur' now comes in tubes

Kolkata, Jan 21: See if this news beats the winter chill for you. Bengalis, especially, will relate to the pangs of non-availability of their favorite 'nolen gur' (Date Palm jaggery) everywhere.

The community may be divided, but Didi has done it already! Nolen Gur is now being made available in tubes, enabling it to be shipped outside the state without any issues.

Thanks to CM Mamata Banerjee's 'Biswa Bangla' Project, the winter sweet will soon be a staple for all Bengalis across the world. Still miss the newspaper wrapping?think of the easy availability and storage (which is a challenge) and you will be sorted. Now, why is this news so important. This is an important ingredient for some of the most delicious sweets that Bengalis make.

The Biswa Bangla site says that the packaging has been done in such a way that the product will remain intact for 90 days, which is way beyond the actual shelf life of the unprocessed version. Although it is still not available online, you can visit the two Vishwa Bangla stores in Kolkata and stuff your bag with as many as you like.
