Bengali Film and TV Actor Biplab Dasgupta Dies At 75

Veteran Bengali actor Biplab Dasgupta, known for his impactful performances in films and television, passed away on Friday following a prolonged illness. He was 75.

According to reports, Dasgupta had been dealing with health complications after undergoing surgery some time ago. On Friday, he experienced discomfort at his residence in Tollygunge and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Over the years, Dasgupta carved a niche for himself in Bengali cinema with memorable roles in films like Gumnaami and Zulfiqar. His performances were often marked by depth and subtlety, earning him recognition among audiences and peers alike.

Beyond the big screen, he was also a familiar face on television, featuring in popular serials such as Chemistry Mashi, Jagamaya, and Checkmate, where he showcased his versatility across genres.

Dasgupta is survived by his wife and daughter. Following his passing, his mortal remains were taken to Technician Studio, where members of the film, television, and OTT industries gathered to pay their last respects and remember his contribution to the arts.
