Before Nikki Bhati’s Death, 2024 Assault FIR Against Accused Vipin Bhati Resurfaces

A 2024 assault FIR against Vipin Bhati, the prime accused in the Greater Noida dowry death case, has resurfaced amid the ongoing probe into the death of his wife, Nikki Bhati, who was allegedly set on fire on August 21.

According to Kasna SHO Dharmendra Shukla, the earlier FIR was lodged at Jarcha police station in 2024 after Vipin was allegedly "caught with a girl." The disclosure has added another layer to the already controversial case.

Past Case Adds Twist to Noida Dowry Investigation

Police said that 28-year-old Nikki Bhati was allegedly set ablaze by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands and her wish to reopen a beauty parlour she once managed.

Her sister Kanchan, who is married to Vipin's brother, released disturbing videos online showing Nikki being assaulted, doused with liquid, and later engulfed in flames. Kanchan claimed the clips were evidence of years of domestic abuse.

Arrests Made in Nikki Bhati Murder Case

The Greater Noida Police have taken multiple family members into custody. On Monday, Nikki's father-in-law and brother-in-law were arrested. Earlier, police had arrested Vipin Bhati and his mother Daya Bhati (55) on charges of dowry harassment, assault, and murder.

Family Conflict Over Social Media and Beauty Parlour

Investigators revealed that Nikki's wish to reopen her beauty parlour and her active presence on Instagram were constant sources of conflict. Police said Vipin strongly opposed her making reels or running a business, insisting that women in the family were not allowed to do so.

On August 21, Nikki reportedly argued again about reopening her parlour. Hours later, the alleged assault took place, captured in viral videos circulating widely on social media.

In a parallel twist, a purported CCTV video surfaced showing Vipin standing outside a grocery shop near his home at the time of the incident. While the footage has been widely shared online, police stressed that its authenticity is still under verification.

Authorities confirmed that they are probing all angles of the case, including dowry harassment, domestic violence, and possible suicide. The resurfaced 2024 assault FIR, combined with disturbing visuals and conflicting accounts, is expected to play a critical role in the investigation.
