Mumbai Police has stepped in amid the growing controversy surrounding YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as 'BeerBiceps,' over his remarks on the reality show India's Got Latent. Mumbai Police Investigates the Show's Studio

On Monday, a team from Mumbai Police reached the studio where India's Got Latent was shot, reportedly to gather evidence and take statements regarding the controversial remarks made on the show. The investigation comes after multiple complaints were filed against Allahbadia and other comedians featured on the program.

The controversy erupted when a clip from the show went viral, in which Allahbadia posed an inappropriate question to a contestant. His remarks were widely condemned, leading to calls for strict action.

An FIR has been filed against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva, and India's Got Latent for "allegedly using abusive language on the show," according to news agency ANI.

Fadnavis Warns of Action Against 'Indecent' Content

Reacting to the outrage, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that while he had not personally watched the video, he had been informed about its content. "I came to know that it was very vulgar, and this is wrong. Freedom of speech exists, but it has limits. If anyone crosses those limits, action will be taken," Fadnavis said.

Following the uproar, two Mumbai-based lawyers lodged a formal police complaint against Ranveer Allahbadia and other comedians associated with India's Got Latent. They also approached the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women's Commission, urging authorities to take strict action against the show for allegedly promoting content that disrespects women.

Meanwhile, prominent journalist and lyricist Neelesh Misra criticised the show's creators, labeling them as "perverted" and questioning their responsibility in shaping India's creative industry. "This content is easily accessible to children. Neither the creators nor the platform are taking any responsibility," Misra posted on X.

Ranveer Allahbadia's Apology Falls Short

In response to the growing criticism, Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging that his comments were inappropriate. "Comedy is not my forte, and I realize now that what I said wasn't cool," he admitted. However, his statement did little to pacify the backlash, with many calling for stricter action against him and the show.

Previous Controversies Surrounding the Show

This is not the first time India's Got Latent has faced controversy. Just last week, a contestant from Arunachal Pradesh was reportedly booked over a remark about dog meat, further fueling debates on the show's content.

As Mumbai Police intensifies its investigation, the controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia and India's Got Latent shows no signs of fading. With legal scrutiny mounting and public anger unabated, the coming days will be crucial in determining the fate of the show and those involved.
