Participating in the closing ceremony of the DMK 75 Arivu Thiruvizha Knowledge Festival, Udhayanidhi highlighted its uniqueness. "Normally, at a book fair, you tend to see separate sections, like cookery, science among others. But in this book fair, you get all the necessary details about politics," he said. The event was organised by the DMK Youth Wing and took place at Valluvar Kottam.
DMK's Political Engagement
The Knowledge Festival, inaugurated by Chief Minister M K Stalin on November 8, attracted over 20,000 visitors in nine days. Udhayanidhi noted that it was unprecedented for a political party to host such an event focused on politics. He remarked that opposition parties like AIADMK avoid similar events due to concerns about their members gaining political knowledge.
Chief Minister Stalin visited several stalls at the festival on Sunday. He spent around two and a half hours interacting with students, book publishers, and writers. During his visit, he purchased 63 books covering topics such as the Dravidian movement, history, and literature.
Annual Event Plans
In a social media post, Udhayanidhi shared images from the festival and announced plans for it to become an annual event. "As per the instructions of the CM, the festival will be held annually in an even more exemplary manner," he stated. The festival's success was evident from its high attendance and engagement.
Chief Minister Stalin also praised Udhayanidhi for organising the event successfully. Reflecting on a compilation of speeches by former Chief Minister C N Annadurai titled "Carry on, but remember," Stalin expressed amazement at its continued relevance. "My compliments once again to DMK Youth Wing brethren for successfully conducting this event," he added.
The Knowledge Festival aimed to educate DMK members about Tamil Nadu's political landscape and history. It provided a platform for learning and engagement with political ideas and leaders' histories. The event's success has set a precedent for future editions.
