BBMP council: Mayor aspirants file nominations
Bengaluru, Sept 11: The stage is set to elect a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Bengaluru. B N Manjunath Reddy a three time councilor from Madiwala of the Congress has filed his nomination for the post of Mayor. Hemalatha Gopalaiah who is from the JD(S) has filed her nomination for the post of Deputy Mayor.
From the BJP, Manjunath Raju a two time corporator from the Kadu Malleshwara ward has filed his nomination for the post of Mayor. H C Nagarathna of the BJP has filed her nomination for the post of Deputy Mayor.

Polling is set to begin by 12 PM today. The magic number to elect a Mayor is 131 and the Congress has claimed it has 132. The Congress has tied up with the JD(S) thus taking its tally to 132.
The BJP on the other hand have claimed that it has 128 which is three short of the magic mark. The MLAs, MPs and MLCs will be voting in this election to the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
The election is set against a huge drama that took place in which several corportors were whisked away to resorts to avoid horse trading. The JD(S) corporators were the first to leave the city and were housed in a resort in Kerala.
The Congress corporators were taken away to a resort in Kodagu district. The corporators have arrived at the corporation and will first take oath in the new council.
