Bawana fire: Owner illegally ran firecracker storage unit say police

The police have said that the owner of the building at the Bawana Industrial area had a license to run a plastic factory. 17 persons were killed after the three-storey building caught fire on Saturday.

The police said that the owner had procured a license to run a plastic factory, but was illegally running a firecracker storage unit.

The police have lodged an FIR under IPC sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) at Shahbad Dairy police station.

The police learnt that he was running a firecracker storage unit. He had procured a license to run a plastic factory, the police also learnt after scrutinising documents. There has been violation on part of the owner and he will be questioned about it, the police also said.
