'Baseless': Adani Group After US Court Indicts industrialist In Bribery Case
The Adani Group has denied the allegations made by the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission against for alleged bribery and fraud.
The spokesperson from the group, said, "The allegations made by the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission against directors of Adani Green are baseless and denied. As stated by the US Department of Justice itself, "the charges in the indictment are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. All possible legal recourse will be sought."

The group further stated that it has always upheld and is steadfastly committed to maintaining the highest standards of governance. The statement added, "Transparency and regulatory compliance across all jurisdicions of its operations. We assure our stakeholders, partners and employees that we are a law-abiding organisation, fully compliant with all laws."
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Opposition, has demanded the arrest of industrialist Gautam Adani after the US charged him for alleged bribery and fraud.
When asked if he would raise the issue of US prosecutors charging Gautam Adani and others in alleged Solar Energy contract bribery case, in Parliament, Gandhi said, "We are raising this issue. It is my responsibility as LoP, to raise this issue. PM Modi is 100% protecting this man. This man has acquired India's assets through corruption. He provides support to the BJP, it is established. We will repeat this. JPC is our demand but we want that Adani be arrested. But we know that he won't be arrested because the PM of India backs Adani, he is his protector..."
Continuing his attack, the Congress leader said, "JPC is important, it should be done but now the question is why is Adani not in jail?...American agency has said that he has committed crime in India, he has offered bribes, sold power at inflated prices. PM is not doing anything, he can't do anything. Even if he wants to do something, he can't because he is under the control of Adani...Note it down, he has done a scam of Rs 2000 Crores. But I guarantee you, this man will neither be arrested nor face an investigation because PM is linked to him."
His comments come after a New York judge has issued arrest warrants for Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, and several others implicated in a multibillion-dollar bribery and fraud scheme. These warrants are set to be handed over to international law enforcement agencies, according to a report in Reuters.
They are accused of orchestrating a $265 million (approximately Rs 2,236 crore) bribery operation to secure solar energy supply contracts from the Indian government. These contracts were projected to yield profits of nearly $2 billion (Rs 16,880 crore) over 20 years.
The indictment claims that from July 2021 to February 2022, bribes were promised to Indian government officials in exchange for securing agreements with state electricity distribution companies in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
