Barber's Axe Attack in Budaun Kills Two Boys; Assailant Later Shot by Police

In a tragic incident in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, a local barber launched a horrifying axe attack in Baba Colony, resulting in the death of two young boys and critically injuring a third. The District Magistrate of Budaun, Manoj Kumar, confirmed the devastating event, which occurred just steps away from the Mandi Police Post of Civil Lines Police Station.

The assailant, recently having opened a barber shop in the area, entered the home of three brothers - Ayush, 12, Ahaan alias Honey, 8, and Yuvraj, 10 - and attacked them with an axe. Ayush and Ahaan succumbed to their injuries while Yuvraj was immediately rushed to the hospital with severe wounds.

Following the attack, law enforcement swiftly responded to the situation. Within hours, one of the individuals involved in this heinous act, identified as 22-year-old Sajid, was fatally shot in an encounter with the police. IG Bareilly range RK Singh provided details of the encounter, noting that Sajid had attempted to flee after committing the crime and even fired at police officers. In response, police returned fire, resulting in Sajid's death.

The motive behind this brutal attack remains unclear. However, it was noted that Sajid, along with another individual named Javed who is currently evading capture, operated a barber shop close to the victims' residence. The aftermath of the attack saw the victims' family members and local residents expressing their outrage by vandalizing shops and damaging a motorcycle.

To address the unrest and ensure public safety, the Senior Superintendent of Police has ordered security deployment in the affected area. Meanwhile, official procedures are underway as the bodies of Ayush and Ahaan have been sent for post-mortem examination and Yuvraj continues to receive medical care at the district hospital.

This incident has cast a shadow over Baba Colony, leaving the community in shock and mourning the senseless loss of young lives. Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing Javed to bring him to justice and further investigations are expected to shed light on the circumstances leading up to this tragic event.
