Bank Holidays In January 2024: Here Is The State-Wise List
The list of bank holidays for January has been released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in January 2024.
The banks nationwide will observe a total of 11 non-working days in January, excluding the second and fourth Saturdays as well as Sundays. For state-specific festivals, banks will be closed only in the respective states. However, on national festivals like Republic Day, banks will remain closed throughout the country.

However, digital services such as mobile banking, UPI, and Internet banking will continue to operate without any interruptions on holidays.

The RBI has categorised holidays under three categories - Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks' Closing of Accounts.
The bank holidays are region-specific and state-specific. So, the holidays, sometimes, vary from state to state. In this month, January 15 is a holiday for banks in Tamil Nadu on the occasion of Thiruvalluvar Day while banks will remain shut in Assam to mark YMA Me-Dam-Me-Phi on January 31.
