Bank Holiday News: All Banks To Remain Closed For 3 Days, Read Details Here

If you have banking tasks planned for this week, be aware that banks in several Indian states will remain closed for three consecutive days. Before heading to the bank, check which days and states are affected to avoid inconvenience. This August week is packed with holidays, including a three-day closure. Plan your banking activities accordingly.

On Friday, 15th August, India celebrates Independence Day, a national holiday. Banks, insurance companies, and most offices will be closed on this day. The following day, 16th August, marks the festival of Janmashtami. Banks will be closed in some states while remaining open in others. Sunday, 17th August, is a regular weekly holiday for all offices.

Bank Holiday on Janmashtami

On Janmashtami, banks in Noida and Ghaziabad within Delhi-NCR will be closed; however, branches in Delhi will operate as usual. Mumbai's banks will also remain open on this day. In contrast, banks in Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Bihar, Gujarat, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Srinagar and Andhra Pradesh will not operate.

Banks will remain open in Tripura, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Maharashtra Karnataka Odisha Goa and Himachal Pradesh during Janmashtami.

Additional Bank Holidays in August

On 19th August in Manipur banks will close to honour Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur's birth anniversary. Assam observes a bank holiday on 25th August due to Srimanta Sankardev's death anniversary. On 27th August banks in Gujarat Maharashtra Bengaluru Odisha Tamil Nadu Telangana Goa and Andhra Pradesh will close for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
