Bank Holiday: Banks To Be Closed In THIS State On January 16
Banks will be closed for several days in January, with some holidays observed nationwide, while others are specific to certain states due to regional festivals or special occasions. Generally, banks are closed across the country on all Sundays, as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.
In addition to these routine closures, the Reserve Bank occasionally declares bank holidays for reasons such as elections. On Thursday, January 16, banks in some regions will remain closed.

Banks Closed on January 16
On January 16, public and private sector banks will remain closed in Tamil Nadu due to the celebration of Uzhavar Tirunal, an important festival in the state. However, banks in other parts of the country will remain open. Uzhavar Tirunal, which falls on the third day of Pongal, is a day dedicated to honoring farmers for their hard work and agricultural contributions.
Uzhavar Tirunal Festival
Uzhavar Tirunal is celebrated with much enthusiasm in Tamil Nadu. On this day, farmers decorate their bulls, perform rituals, and express gratitude for the good harvests. The festival emphasizes the significance of rural life and the agricultural community.
