Bandipora Administration Closes BPO Call Centre Amid Allegations from Sajad Lone
The Peoples Conference leader, Sajad Lone, claimed that a BPO call centre in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, was shut down by the district administration. This centre was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019. However, the district administration refuted these claims, calling them unfounded.

The BPO, which is the only rural call centre in Bandipora, was reportedly closed following verbal instructions from the Deputy Commissioner. It was allegedly deemed illegal and lacking proper authorisation. Lone highlighted this irony since the BPO was part of a scheme launched by the Prime Minister and inaugurated by him virtually in 2019.
District Administration's Response
The district administration clarified that the BPO operates from the second floor of the Deputy Commissioner's office. Due to security concerns, they have asked the BPO managers to move to a more suitable location. They assured that ample time has been given for this transition and that the BPO will continue its operations during this period.
In a statement on X, the administration emphasised that the allegations of closure are baseless. They reiterated their commitment to supporting local employment and promoting initiatives that improve livelihoods in the region.
