Varshas Eco-Friendly Enterprise: From Banana Stems to Bio-Fertiliser

Varsha, an MTech graduate from Karnataka, inspired by PM Modis Mann Ki Baat, started an enterprise making products from banana stems, offering employment opportunities to others.

An MTech graduate from Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district has caught the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for starting an enterprise that makes products from banana stems. The venture was inspired by Modi's radio program, Mann Ki Baat.

Varsha's Journey

During the Sunday episode of his monthly program, the Prime Minister highlighted Varsha's initiative, noting that it has motivated many individuals. Varsha, inspired by an episode of Mann Ki Baat, started a business producing manure from banana plants. Modi commended Varsha's determination and stated that her initiative has created employment opportunities for others.

Varsha, who hails from Ummattur in Chamarajanagar, started her enterprise, Akruthi Eco-Friendly Enterprises, using banana stem fiber to manufacture various products such as mats, mobile stands, pen stands, hats, and fridge covers. She shared with reporters in Mysuru that she was inspired to start her business after listening to an episode of Mann Ki Baat during the Covid lockdown.

Inspired by Mann Ki Baat

In that particular episode, the Prime Minister had spoken about a Tamil Nadu-based businessman who started a venture using banana fibers when many businesses were closing down. Varsha was greatly inspired by this story and decided to embark on her own entrepreneurial journey.

Varsha expressed her elation at receiving recognition from the Prime Minister and stated that she is now motivated to take her business to the next level. She is determined to expand her operations and create more employment opportunities in her region.
