Bakra Eid 2025: Lucknow Cleric’s Appeal for Clean Qurbani and No Bloodshed in Drains
Lucknow-based Muslim cleric Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli has urged the community to perform animal sacrifices for Bakra Eid 2025 in private spaces and avoid sharing videos of the ritual on social media. He also emphasized the importance of following government guidelines and refraining from sacrificing prohibited animals during the festival.
In a video advisory released on June 2, Maulana Khalid shared a 12-point advisory issued by the Islamic Centre of India, Lucknow. He said, "This year, Bakra Eid 2025 will be celebrated on June 7 across the country. The 'Qurbani' can be performed on June 7, 8, and 9. It is essential to maintain cleanliness and ensure sacrifices are not conducted in public areas."

Maulana Khalid said that blood should not be allowed to flow into the drains. Instead, it should be buried in soft soil so that it can act as fertilizer for plants. Do not take any videos or photos of the sacrifice ritual, nor post them on social media. Share a portion of the sacrificial animal with the poor and the needy.
He further advised believers to properly pack and distribute the sacrificial meat. After performing the Eid Namaz (special prayers), Maulana Khalid encouraged Muslims to pray for Palestine and the brave soldiers guarding the nation's borders.
When is Bakra Eid 2025?
Bakra Eid 2025, also known as Eid al-Adha or Bari Eid, is one of the two major Islamic festivals celebrated worldwide. It falls on the 10th day of Zil-Hajj (Dhu al-Hijjah), the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar, marking the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. This year, Bakra Eid 2025 will be observed on June 7 in India and June 6 in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, with festivities lasting three days.
The Significance of Bakra Eid 2025 Sacrifice
The central ritual of Bakra Eid 2025 is the Qurbani, or animal sacrifice, which commemorates the unwavering faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). According to Islamic tradition and the Quran, Ibrahim was commanded in a dream by Allah to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail, as a test of his devotion. As Ibrahim prepared to fulfill this command, Allah intervened and provided a ram to be sacrificed instead, symbolizing submission to divine will.
Thus, the sacrifice during Bakra Eid 2025 embodies the core Islamic values of faith, sacrifice, and obedience, reminding believers of the importance of devotion and trust in God's plan.
