BJPs Marandi Demands Arrest of Congress MP Over Cash Haul
BJPs Jharkhand unit president Babulal Marandi has demanded the arrest of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu after unaccounted cash worth Rs 225 crore was recovered from premises linked to him. The cash was seized during searches conducted by the Income Tax department against Odisha-based Boudh Distillery Private Limited and its associates.
In a significant development, the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Jharkhand unit president and former chief minister, Babulal Marandi, has demanded the immediate arrest of Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, Dhiraj Prasad Sahu, following the recovery of unaccounted cash from his premises. The Income Tax (I-T) department's ongoing searches against Odisha-based Boudh Distillery Private Limited and its associated entities have so far yielded a staggering amount of approximately Rs 225 crore in unaccounted cash.

Marandi Calls for Thorough Probe
Expressing shock and concern over the unprecedented cash haul, Marandi emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the matter. He alleged that the recovered cash has potential links to top Congress leadership, including Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Marandi demanded the lodging of an FIR against Sahu and his subsequent arrest to ensure accountability and justice.
Slow-Paced Counting of Seized Cash
The I-T department has deployed three dozen counting machines to expedite the process of counting the seized cash. However, due to the limited capacity of these machines, the counting is progressing at a relatively slow pace, according to official sources. Sahu could not be reached for his response, while his office confirmed his unavailability.
Cash Recovered from Multiple Locations
The I-T department's searches have revealed that a substantial amount of cash, approximately Rs 200 crore, was stashed in almirahs at the distillery group's premises in Bolangir district, Odisha. The remaining amount was found in various other locations, including Sambalpur and Sundargarh in Odisha, Bokaro and Ranchi in Jharkhand, and Kolkata.
Prime Minister Modi's Reaction
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform Twitter to express his views on the matter. He shared a news report about the I-T department's recovery of Rs 200 crore in cash from locations linked to Sahu and criticized the Congress party. Prime Minister Modi urged the public to witness the piles of currency notes and contrast them with the speeches of Congress leaders on honesty. He asserted that every penny looted from the people will be returned, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring accountability.
The recovery of unaccounted cash worth crores of rupees from the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu and entities linked to him has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about the involvement of top political figures. The BJP's demand for Sahu's arrest and a thorough investigation into the matter highlights the need for transparency and accountability in public life. As the counting of seized cash continues, the outcome of this case is likely to have significant implications for the political landscape in Jharkhand and beyond.
