Baba Siddique Murder: Accused Gill Used Labourer’s Hotspot to Plan Conspiracy

The Mumbai Police investigation into the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique has revealed that prime suspect Akashdeep Gill, arrested in Punjab, used a labourer's mobile hotspot to communicate with key conspirators, including alleged mastermind Anmol Bishnoi, officials said on Friday.

Gill, identified as the logistics coordinator in the plot orchestrated by gangster Anmol Bishnoi, reportedly employed this method to evade police detection.

"During interrogation, Gill disclosed that he used a labourer's hotspot to communicate with the conspirators. By leveraging Balwinder's mobile hotspot, he managed to stay offline and avoid being tracked," a crime branch official said. Authorities are now searching for Gill's mobile phone, which may hold crucial evidence related to the case.

Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12 near his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique's office in Mumbai's Nirmal Nagar, by three assailants.

In a significant breakthrough, Shiva Kumar, the main shooter, and four other suspects were arrested on November 10 by a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and the Mumbai Crime Branch in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The suspects were remanded to police custody until November 19.

The police have also arrested Salman Vohra, accused of financing the murder, and Akashdeep Singh in connection with the crime. The murder was allegedly carried out under the orders of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang, which has claimed responsibility for Siddique's killing.

Investigations have further revealed that after Siddique's murder, the gang had targeted a prominent leader from Pune.

Additionally, sources indicate that Shubham Lonkar, a wanted suspect in Siddique's murder and an associate of the Bishnoi gang, allegedly planned to kill Aftab Poonawala-the accused in the Shraddha Walker murder case-in Delhi's Saket Court in 2022. However, the plan, which had been in the works for a month, was never executed.

Poonawala is currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
