Baahubali 2 faces ban in Karnataka over Kattappa's 'comment'
A pro-Kannada group wants a ban on screening of Baahubali 2 in the state after one of the film's actors allegedly made anti-Karnataka remarks.
Bengaluru, March 24: The cine-goers of Karnataka might not be able to watch this year's most anticipated film -- Baahubali 2: The Conclusion -- directed by SS Rajamouli in theatres. The movie is set to release on April 28. However, it looks like the film will be banned in the state as members of a pro-Kannada group are protesting against the alleged derogatory remarks against Karnataka in regard to Cauvery issue by actor Sathyaraj. The actor plays the famous role of Kattappa in the film.
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike -- a pro-Kannada group -- has demanded an apology from Sathyaraj for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Karnataka. Reports say the actor, who mostly works in Tamil films, made a controversial speech several years ago during the unrest between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka over Cauvery water-sharing dispute.

The activists have approached Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce President SA Ra Govindu to stop the release of Baahubali 2 in the state. Recently, activists of the pro-Kannada group have reportedly prevented the screening of the trailer of the film in a theatre in Bellary in the state.
However, Baahubali: The Beginning, the prequel to Baahubali 2 did not face any opposition in the state. Sathyaraj acted in Baahubali: The Beginning too. The film directed by Rajamouli was a mega box-office hit. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the upcoming film after the success of Baahubali: The Beginning.
In 2015, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's movie -- Dilwale -- was not allowed to screen in Mangaluru by Bajrang Dal and Viswa Hindu Parishad activists after the actor made alleged 'anti-national' comments.
