India Issues 123 Regular Ayush Visas for Foreign Patients Seeking Treatment by December 2023

A total of 123 regular Ayush Visas, 221 e-Ayush Visas, and 17 e-Ayush Attendant Visas were issued from July 27, 2023, to December 4, according to Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav. He shared this information in a written response to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

123 Ayush Visas Issued for Foreign Patients

The government introduced a distinct Ayush Visa category on July 27 last year. This visa is for foreigners seeking treatment under the Ayush system of medicine in India. The Ayush Visa has four sub-categories: Ayush Visa, Ayush Attendant Visa, e-Ayush Visa, and e-Ayush Attendant Visa.

Ayush Visa Categories and Purpose

The Ayush Visa is specifically for foreigners aiming to receive treatment through Ayush systems. This includes therapeutic care and wellness at accredited hospitals or wellness centres. These facilities must be registered with government authorities or accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, National Commission for Homoeopathy, or National Commission for Indian System of Medicine.

To enhance India's Medical Value Travel sector, the Union Health Ministry launched the Advantage Healthcare India portal. This official portal serves as a comprehensive resource for international patients seeking medical treatment in India. Patients can access it by visiting www.healinindia.gov.in.

Medical Value Travel Initiatives

On September 30, the government organised the Ayush Medical Value Travel Summit-2024 in Mumbai. The event's theme was "Global Synergy in Ayush: Transforming Health and Wellness through Medical Value Travel." It aimed to bolster India's position in Medical Value Travel by integrating traditional Indian medicine with modern healthcare systems.

The summit highlighted India's efforts to blend traditional and modern healthcare approaches. This integration seeks to attract more international patients to India for medical treatment. The initiative underscores India's commitment to promoting its traditional medicine systems globally.

India continues to strengthen its position in the global healthcare market through these initiatives. By offering diverse medical services, including traditional treatments, India aims to become a leading destination for Medical Value Travel worldwide.
