Ayurvedic medical college recognition cancelled by CCIM

A Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) team visited Swami Kalyan Deo Arurvedic Medical College in Rampur here yesterday and found the facilities such as number of professors, inadequate for running an institution, Professor DK Arya said.
The team cancelled the recognition of the medical college, he said. CCIM is one of the professional councils under University Grants Commission (UGC) which monitors higher education in Indian systems of medicine, including Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani.
As a result of the cancellation, seven professors and 49 medical students have been shifted to various government ayurvedic medical colleges in Barrielly, Banda, Allahabad, and Lucknow in order for them to continue their studies, Arya said. Swami Kalyan was the only ayurvedic college in western Uttar Pradesh.
