Avalanche warning issued for Jammu and Kashmir for next 24 hrs
Chandigarh, Apr 4: An avalanche warning was today issued for higher areas of Jammu and Kashmir, advising people not to venture in these areas over the next 24 hours.
'Medium danger' avalanche warning exists for avalanche prone areas above 3,500 metres altitude of Ganderbal and Kargil districts of Jammu and Kashmir, the advisory said.

An advisory, issued by Chandigarh-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) which comes under the Ministry of Defence, will remain effective for 24 hours beginning 5 PM today.
The SASE release said Drass (5 cm) had received fresh snowfall while Banihal Top (16 mm), Gulmarg (28 mm), and Pharkian (34 mm) had received rainfall in the last 24 hours.
