Galgotias University has landed in controversy once again after several students claimed in viral Instagram videos that the institution forced them to attend the inauguration of the Noida International Airport by Narendra Modi on March 28.

The allegations surfaced after multiple videos began circulating on social media, where students said university authorities instructed them to report to campus early in the morning and travel to the inauguration venue in buses arranged by the university. According to the students featured in the videos, they were told that those attending the event would be given two days of attendance.

Several students claimed the messages shared through faculty members and internal communication channels made participation appear compulsory. Some said even students without scheduled classes that day were asked to attend the event, leaving them with the impression that skipping it could affect their attendance records.

In the viral clips, students alleged that the promise of additional attendance was used to ensure a large turnout from the university. Many also said they felt pressured to participate despite it being a holiday or a day without classes.

The controversy has put Galgotias University in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, with social media users questioning whether students were being mobilised to fill seats at a government event rather than attending voluntarily.
