Attempt to exchange scrapped notes foiled at Chintpurni temple

Shimla, Nov 12 An attempt to exchange Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes with small denomination notes at famous Chintpurni temple in Himachal Pradesh's Una district was foiled by an employee of the temple.

The audio tape of a conversation between the temple employee, a bank employee and an officer went viral in social media.

Sources said the conversation pertained to the exchange of notes worth Rs 1.31 lakh from offerings at the temple.

Una Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Labroo said he is aware of the matter and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sunil Verma has been asked to inquire into it.
