Atishi Marlena, a key figure in Delhi politics and the Aam Aadmi Party, has now risen to the highest office in the union territory, taking on the role of Chief Minister. From a dedicated teacher, she became the deputy and now successor of Arvind Kejriwal, the founder of the party.

Born on June 8, 1981, to Delhi University professors Vijay Singh Tomar and Tripta Wahi, Atishi comes from a Tomar Rajput family with a Punjabi background. Her middle name "Marlena" was inspired by her parents' political beliefs, a blend of Marx and Lenin, although she dropped this surname before the national elections in 2018 to focus on her work.
Raised in Delhi, Atishi attended Springdales School before earning her undergraduate degree in history from St. Stephen's College, Delhi in 2001. She later went on to study at Oxford University, completing her Master's in History on a Chevening Scholarship in 2003. She further advanced her education at Magdalen College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar, specializing in Educational Research.
