Atishi To Be Next Chief Minister Of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal Proposes In MLAs Meet, Approved

In the Delhi Legislative Members meeting today, AAP MLAs finalised Atishi's name to be the next Chief Minister Of Delhi. Atishi's name was proposed by AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in the MLAs meeting, to which all legislators agreed.

Atishi has been handling around 10 departments in the Delhi government and is known as one of the most loyal and close aide to Arvind Kejriwal. She will be the third woman chief minister of Delhi after Sushma Swaraj, and Sheila Dixit.

It is expected that AAP will make the formal announcement of Atishi's name around 12:30 pm in a press conference. Experts are seeing it as a tactical move to end anti-incumbency against AAP, which has been ruling the capital for the last 10 years.

Naming Atishi as the new Chief Minister will help AAP in wooing women voters of Delhi.

According to the reports, Arvind Kejriwal will hand over his resignation to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena today around 4:30 pm.

Arvind Kejriwal on September 15 announced that he would step down from his position following false accusations and requested the people of Delhi to deliver their verdict.

Sources said there would be no Deputy Chief Minister and Atishi would take oath during a special Assembly session, which would be held on September 26-27.
