At What Time India-Pakistan War Mock Drill Start?
In an unprecedented move since the 1971 India-Pakistan war, the Centre has issued a directive for a nationwide civil defence mock drill to be held on Wednesday, May 7. This decision was influenced by the tragic terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives, as well as ongoing cross-border skirmishes with Pakistan. The aim of the drill is to enhance readiness for a potential "hostile attack," ensuring that both people and organizations are well-prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in case of an emergency.
Mock drills are essential practice exercises designed to mimic real-life emergency situations, enabling individuals and organizations to refine their response strategies in a controlled environment. Such drills are vital for preparing participants to act decisively and efficiently in the face of actual emergencies, including fires, earthquakes, medical emergencies, or security threats. During these drills, participants perform their roles as they would in an actual emergency scenario, which may involve evacuating buildings, administering first aid, or executing lockdown procedures.

The upcoming mock drill, organized by the Union Home Ministry, aims to evaluate and improve various aspects of civil defence preparedness. One of the key objectives is to test the effectiveness of air raid sirens in alerting the population about aerial threats. The exercise will also offer civilians training on how to react swiftly and safely if an air strike were to occur. Additionally, the drill will activate and test hotline and radio links between civil authorities and the Indian Air Force, ensuring that communication channels are efficient and reliable during crises.
However, people are still confused about the exact time for mock drill. As per the sources, India-Pakistan war mock drill is likely to take place at evening around 6 pm. There will be a complete blackout as people are requested to switch off all light and stay inside. While people participating in the war drill, which is to rescue neighbors and other citizens, take them to medical camps or hospitals, are only urged to step outside.
A siren will be honked to alert people about the danger outside, and again it will play when the situation gets normal or safe to step outside.
Comprehensive Training and Infrastructure Protection
The drill encompasses a wide range of activities aimed at bolstering civil defence capabilities. Participants, including students, will learn basic civil defence techniques to protect themselves during hostile attacks. Blackout exercises, where residents may be asked to turn off lights to mimic air raid conditions, will also be part of the drill. Furthermore, the exercise will focus on protecting critical infrastructure, such as airfields, refineries, and rail yards, from aerial detection or attacks. This comprehensive approach ensures that both people and essential services are prepared for any eventuality.
