Assembly poll season heats up as Modi visits Gujarat, Rahul Himachal Pradesh

While on Saturday, PM Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat, Congress VP Rahul Gandhi will be in Himachal Pradesh.

New Delhi, Oct 7: Both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are soon going to host Assembly elections in their respective states. While in Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in power, in Himachal Pradesh the Congress is at the helm of affairs.

Moreover, this time as the Congress is trying hard to save its government in Himachal Pradesh, the grand old party is eyeing to dethrone the saffron party's rule in Gujarat.

Almost in a similar manner, the BJP wants to retain Gujarat, but crush the Congress in Himachal Pradesh. Amid all these political calculations, both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi are extensively touring both the states.

While recently, Rahul was in Gujarat for a three-day road tour, Modi was in Himachal Pradesh to inaugurate various developmental projects. On Saturday, PM will be in Gujarat and Rahul in Himachal Pradesh.

Thus it is surely going to be a cracker of a political day on Saturday as Modi and Rahul are likely to attack each other and their respective parties.

Security has been increased in Mandi from where Rahul is believed to kickstart the Congress' campaign at a rally, whereas, PM Modi is on a two-day tour of his home state Gujarat.

The PM Modi's visit to Gujarat will mainly focus on laying foundation stones and inaugurating a number of projects. The trip will begin with a visit to Dwarkadheesh temple on Saturday morning.

Recently, Rahul had also offered prayers at the Dwarka temple before starting his campaign for Gujarat polls to be held at the end of the year. He will also visit Vadnagar, his birth place, for the first time since becoming the prime minister in 2014.

During his Gujarat trip, the PM is surely going to target the Congress and Rahul, who has been lashing out at the BJP government over current "economic crisis" faced by the country.

It would be also interesting to see what Rahul will say as a reply to Modi's taunt at Himachal Pradesh recently that "the entire Congress party is out on bail".
