Assault On Swati Maliwal: AAP MP Sanjay Singh Confirms Reports, Promises Strict Action Against Delhi CM's PA

A day after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP and former Delhi Women Commission Chief Swati Maliwal was allegedly manhandled by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's Personal Assistant Bibhav Kumar, the party confirmed the assault. AAP MP Sanjay Singh confirmed the reports and condemned the act, promising strict action against the accused.

Shedding light on the incident, Sanjay Singh said, "A very distressing incident took place yesterday morning. Arvind Kejriwal had called Swati Maliwal for a meeting. She was waiting in the drawing room to meet him when Bibhav Kumar came in and misbehaved with her. After this, Ms Maliwal called the police and told them what happened."

He termed the incident shocking and saddening, adding that the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has taken cognisance of the matter and promised Swati Maliwal that such kind of behavior will not be tolerated and a strict action will be taken.

"CM has said the strictest possible action should be taken..." Singh told the media.

"Swati Maliwal has done great work for the people and country, and is one of the party's oldest and senior-most leaders. We stand with her and will deal with this issue seriously, as per Mr Kejriwal's order. The AAP does not support such behavior," he added.

According to the reports, Swati Maliwal went to meet Arvind Kejriwal on Monday at his Civil Lines residence. While she was waiting in the drawing room, CM's PA Bibhav Kumar misbehaved with her. After this, Maliwal dialed police twice from CM's residence and later went to a nearby police station, but came back without reporting the matter.

However, Swati Maliwal has not commented on the incident yet.

Reacting to the incident, Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva said this is a very sensitive matter and it should be investigated. "Who insighted him? Who gave him the directions? All this should be investigated...It would have been better if Sanjay Singh himself went to the police & registered the complaint," he said.
