Guwahati, February 29: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the commencement of Vikas Yatra, a transformative initiative that will witness the launch and initiation of projects worth a staggering Rs 23,000 crore across the state. This ambitious endeavor aims to elevate Assam into a superlative infrastructure destination, fulfilling the aspirations of its citizens.

Projects Inaugurated in Barpeta District

As part of the Vikas Yatra, Chief Minister Sarma inaugurated, laid the foundation, and performed Bhumi Pujan for a series of projects worth Rs 624 crore in Barpeta district. These projects include a two-lane bridge connecting Barpeta Road Railway station and Sarupeta Railway station, 95 piped water schemes, and the Sarukhetri District Hospital, among others.

Transforming Barpeta into an Industrial Hub

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Sarma expressed his vision for transforming Barpeta into a major industrial hub. He emphasized that these projects will significantly enhance the district's infrastructure, including roads, healthcare, drinking water, and sports facilities.

Roadshow and Public Engagement

Chief Minister Sarma also participated in a roadshow in Barpeta, where he received a warm welcome from the local populace. He expressed his delight in interacting with the people and acknowledged their love and affection.

Socio-Economic Development of Barpeta

Highlighting the state government's commitment to the socio-economic, cultural, and academic development of Barpeta and other parts of Assam, Chief Minister Sarma mentioned the various initiatives undertaken by his administration. He emphasized the filling up of 96,000 government vacancies and the upcoming advertisement for 35,000 more posts, aiming to provide one lakh government jobs.

Call for Cooperation

Chief Minister Sarma urged the people of Assam to extend their cooperation to the government's efforts in building a new and developed Assam. He emphasized the importance of collective participation in achieving the state's vision of progress and prosperity.
