Minazur Rehman said that this was the least they could do.
The people of Assam who are battling floods were not deterred when it came to Independence Day. Photographs of students saluting the National Flag despite the heavy floods have been shared extensively on the social media.
The teachers in the schools of Assam sent out messages about how proud they were of the students who dared the floods and took part in the Independence Day celebrations. Here are a few pictures which show how Mother Nature's fury did not deter the people of Assam on Independence Day.

Happy Independence Day to all
Minazur Rehman wrote on his Facebook profile, "Happy independence day to all..... I m the asstt teacher at this school, school name...1185 No. Naskara LP school.. under Fakirganj Police station. The rains did not deter them
Large parts of Assam have been inundated for weeks from heavy monsoon rains that also swelled rivers. The Naskara Lower Primary School, where the six gathered to celebrate Independence Day has been submerged in water. The six were the school's head teacher Tazem Sikder, his colleagues Nripen Rabha, Joydev Roy, and Mizanur Rahman, and Class 3 students Jiarul Ali Khan and Haidor Ali Khan.

Early assembly
Minazur Rehman said that this was the least they could do. We sang the National Anthem and Vande Mataram. We held the assembly and dispersed early as small children cannot stand in water for long he said.

Lakhs affected
