Assam Embarks on Strategic Initiatives to Realize Viksit Bharat Vision
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Saturday that the state has launched several strategic initiatives aimed at contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India. Speaking at the NITI Aayog's Governing Council meeting, he highlighted Assam's rapid growth and significant investments in infrastructure, including roads, health, and education.

Focus on Infrastructure Development
Sarma mentioned that Assam is currently constructing water supply assets worth Rs 35,000 crore and 13,000 new SSA classrooms. Efforts are also being made to reintegrate 81,000 out-of-school students and develop a renewable energy capacity of 3,000 MW. "In my address, I stressed on the strategic initiatives by Assam that are poised to significantly contribute to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji's vision of a Viksit Bharat. Assam is today amongst the fastest growing states," Sarma posted on X.
Economic Growth and Power Supply
The Chief Minister noted that Assam's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth stands at 13 per cent. Since 2020, the state's capital expenditure has increased by 59 per cent. Additionally, Assam's average power supply of 23 hours per day surpasses the national average. "These are among some of the several ongoing initiatives," he added.
Future Plans for Workforce and Industry
Under Prime Minister Modi's guidance, Assam plans to take concrete steps to upskill its workforce and build a robust industrial base. The state will also focus on maintaining law and order and prioritising Jan Bhagidari initiatives to contribute towards a self-reliant India. "Under the guidance of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, in the coming days, Assam will take concrete measures to upskill our workforce, build a solid industrial base, maintain law and order and place primacy on Jan Bhagidari initiatives that contribute towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat," Sarma said.
Discussion on Good Governance
After attending a conference with chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, Sarma mentioned that they had fruitful discussions on synergising good governance efforts. "Hon'ble Prime Minister guided us on ways to implement our developmental agenda," he said in another post on X.
