Assam Mosque Committee Not to Allow Burial Of Those Who Died Due To Consumption Of Drugs
In an effort to combat the drug menace, the Kabristan Committee in Morigaon district of central Assam has made a decision to prohibit the participation and burial of individuals who died due to drug consumption or involvement in the illegal drug trade.
During a recent meeting, the Moirabari Town Kabristan Committee reached this decision with the aim of raising public awareness about the drug menace. Mehboob Muktar, the president of the committee, stated that the decision was a bold step taken to address the drug problem in their locality.

According to Muktar, many young people in the area are involved in the illegal drug trade, and numerous children have become addicted to drugs.
"The Moirabari Town Kabristan Committee of Morigaon district has taken a bold decision that, we will not allow the body of those people who die due to consumption of drugs or have been involved in illegal drugs trade to be buried in the Kabristan. We have taken the decision to fight against the drug menace in our area," Muktar said as qupted by ANI.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to the committee's decision by highlighting the state government's significant efforts in the war against drugs. He mentioned that in the past two years, 9,309 people have been arrested, narcotics worth Rs 1,430 crore have been seized, and measures have been taken to destroy 420 acres of cannabis and opium cultivation.
The chief minister also expressed the government's commitment to combating drug consumption and supply networks, emphasizing the impactful nature of their efforts in this regard.
