Assam, Punjab, Manipur get new governors
New Delhi, Aug 17: Former minister Najma Heptulla has been appointed as the Governor of Manipur.
Apart from Manipur, Assam and Punjab also got new governors.
Banwarilal Purohit has been appointed as the governor of Assam while V.P. Singh Badnore has been appointed as the governor of Punjab.
Heptulla may be sworn in shortly as 18th governor of Manipur. She had resigned from the Union Ministry on July 12, 2016 as she had crossed 75 years of age.
Manipur and Punjab is set to go to polls in February next year.
Jagdish Mukhi has been appointed as Lieutenant governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
