Assam CM Gogoi accepts defeat, offers to resign

As per initial trends in the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state, the BJP was leading in seven, the Congress and the AIUDF in three each, while an Independent candidate was leading in one seat.
"We are going to accept the mandate with all humility," Gogoi told media persons. Earlier, Gogoi had stated that he would quit if his party fails to get at least 7 seats.
