Assam: Bus Collides With Truck In Deragaon Kills 14, Injures 25

At least 14 people were reported dead, and 25 others sustained serious injuries after a collision occurred between a bus carrying 45 people and a truck in Assam's Dergaon around 5 am on Wednesday, January 3 (morning). The accident took place when the bus, with 45 passengers on board, was en route to Tilinga Mandir in Tinsukia. It collided with a truck in Dergaon, as stated by the police, reported ANI.

While sharing the details of the incident, the police also mentioned that the journey of the picnic party started around 3 am, and as they were nearing their destination, the bus was involved in a head-on collision with a coal-laden truck coming from Margherita.

    The site was attended by police who, in turn, rescued the injured passengers and admitted them to Jorhat Medical College. An official mentioned that several injured individuals were in critical condition. The bodies of the 14 passengers who died on the spot were recovered, and they were sent for post-mortem examinations. The matter is currently under investigation by the police.
