Asian Games 2023: Medal Tally And Who Won What For India On 7th October

India delivered an outstanding performance in the Asian Games on Saturday, 7th October, culminating in the best-ever campaign for the country. On this particular day, India secured a total of 12 medals across various events, with significant achievements in cricket, kabaddi, and badminton, all resulting in gold medals.

India currently holds the fourth position in the medal table, having earned a total of 107 medals, including 28 golds, 38 silvers, and 41 bronzes. This marked India's most successful outing in the history of the Asian Games.

Here is a list of India's achievements in different events:

Cricket: India's men's cricket team was scheduled to face Afghanistan in the final, but the match was affected by rain. India was declared the gold medal winner based on rankings.

Archery: Jyoti Surekha secured a gold medal in the women's compound event, while Aditi clinched the bronze. In the men's compound event, Tejas Deotale secured the gold medal, with Abhishek Verma earning the silver.

Kabaddi: Both, the men's and the women's kabaddi teams performed exceptionally well, securing gold medals. The women's team defeated Chinese Taipei to claim the gold, while the men's team defeated Iran in the final to secure their gold.

Badminton: India made history in men's doubles by winning the gold medal for the first time in 61 years. The duo of Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty clinched the gold by defeating a Malaysian pair in the final match.

Hockey: The Indian women's hockey team won the bronze medal by defeating Japan 2-1. The men's team had previously secured the gold medal by defeating Japan.

Wrestling: Deepak Punia secured the silver medal in the 86 kg category, as he faced Hasan Yazdani in the gold medal match.

Chess: India's chess teams performed admirably, with the men's and women's teams both winning silver medals. The men's team, consisting of Vidit, Arjun, Pragyanand, and Harikrishna, defeated the Philippines, while the women's team, comprising D Harika, R Vaishali, Vantika Agarwal, and Savita Sri, defeated Korea.

India's performance in the Asian Games showcased its prowess and determination in various sports, resulting in an impressive medal tally and historic victories.
