Asian Games 2023: India's Best Ever Performance With 81 Medals, Betters Jakarta 2018 Record

More notable achievements from Wednesday include wrestling where Sunil Kumar secured a bronze medal in the 87kg Greco-Roman event by defeating Kyrgyzstan's Atabek Azesbekov with a score of 2-1 in the Bronze Medal match.

In the women's 800m Final, Harmilan Bains represented India and secured a commendable silver medal, finishing second with a time of 2:03.75. Avinash Sable, who had previously won gold in the 3000m steeplechase, continued his impressive run by securing a silver medal in the 5000m.

The Women's 4x400m relay team delivered a remarkable performance, earning a silver medal and clocking a time of 3:27.85. Bahrain, breaking India's Games Record, secured gold in this event.

India's remarkable performance at the 2023 Asian Games also means that the country has equalled its previous record for the highest number of gold medals won at a single edition of the Asian Games.

Adding to the medal tally, Ram Baboo and Manju Rani secured a bronze medal in the 35km mixed race walking event.

As of the latest update, India occupies the fourth position in the overall medal standings, with an impressive haul of 18 gold, 31 silver, and 32 bronze medals making it to a total 81. The nation's athletes continue to make their mark on the international stage, showcasing their talent, dedication, and resilience at the Asian Games.
