On October 7, 2023, India reached an unprecedented milestone by securing 100 medals, comprising 25 gold, 35 silver, and 40 bronze.

In a thrilling series of events, the Indian contingent claimed three consecutive gold medals in archery and women's kabaddi, catapulting India to the coveted 100-medal mark. Archer Jyothi Vennam and Praveen Ojas clinched gold in their respective individual compound events, while the women's kabaddi team triumphed over Chinese Taipei in a nail-biting final match, elevating India's medal tally to a century.

As of the current standings, India has won 22 medals in shooting, 29 in track and field, 5 in rowing, and 3 in sailing, with additional medals secured across various disciplines in the Asian Games 2023.

Kabaddi Glory:

The Indian women's kabaddi team reclaimed their gold medal after securing a bronze in the 2018 edition of the event. The Indian women's squad began the match strongly, establishing a 5-point lead (14-9). However, Chinese Taipei mounted a remarkable comeback in the second half, narrowing the gap and persistently challenging India. At one point, Taipei even cleared the Indian players from the court, earning 2 crucial points. Nevertheless, India displayed resilience and ultimately emerged victorious with a 26-25 scoreline.

Standout Champions:

One noteworthy achievement was the Indian men's hockey team, clinching their fourth Asian Games title by defeating Japan 5-1 in the final, adding yet another gold to India's tally. In individual competitions, several female athletes garnered gold medals, including Sift Kaur Samra, Palak Gulia, Parul Chaudhary, Annu Rani, Parveen Hooda, Lovlina Borgohain, and Harmilan Bains.

The Indian women's cricket team made a historic debut in the Asian Games 2023, securing a gold medal. In the realm of archery, Ojas Pravin Deotale and Jyothi Vennam excelled, each securing gold medals in the men's compound event and women's individual compound event, respectively. The Indian athletics team demonstrated its prowess by earning 29 medals, including six gold, 14 silver, and nine bronze.

Additionally, the Indian women's recurve team earned a bronze medal in archery, and Vishal Kewat reached the final in Canoe slalom. The Indian women's Kabaddi team triumphed in the semifinals against Nepal, securing their place in the final.

Several other athletes from various sports have also contributed to India's impressive medal count, including weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, badminton star PV Sindhu, and archery world champions Aditi Gopichand Swami and Ojas Pravin Deotale.
