Nana Patole Critiques Ashok Chavan's Departure from Congress Amid Political Turmoil

Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole criticised Ashok Chavan, a veteran leader, for leaving the Congress during difficult times. Patole remarked that Chavan became chief minister twice due to the Congress but abandoned the party when it faced challenges. He suggested that if Chavan had been with the BJP earlier, he would not have achieved significant leadership roles.

Nana Patole Criticises Ashok Chavans Exit

Chavan, who hails from Nanded district, joined the BJP earlier this year after a long association with the Congress. The BJP has since appointed him as a Rajya Sabha member. Additionally, Chavan's daughter, Shrijaya, is contesting from the Bhokar constituency in Nanded for the assembly polls on November 20.

Political Allegations and Campaigns

Patole accused Chavan of betraying the expectations of people in the Bhokar constituency. He urged voters to consider carefully whom they support, especially with Chavan's family now involved in politics. Patole made these remarks during a campaign rally at Mudkhed for the Mudkhed and Bhokar assembly segments.

Chavan's departure from Congress was also linked to allegations of defaming the party. Patole questioned whether anyone would support someone who tarnished their own party's reputation. A relative of Chavan reportedly claimed that he joined the BJP out of fear of imprisonment.

Chavan is known for his development-focused image and served as chief minister twice. However, Patole argued that Chavan left Congress when it needed him most. He reiterated that Chavan would not have risen to prominence if he had been with the BJP from the start.

Local voters had hoped for improvements like water supply and industrial growth by supporting Chavan. However, Patole alleged that these promises were never fulfilled by him. This sentiment was echoed in his address at the campaign rally, urging voters to reflect on past promises and actions.

The political landscape in Maharashtra is witnessing significant shifts with leaders like Chavan changing allegiances. As elections approach, these developments are likely to influence voter decisions and party strategies across constituencies.

The upcoming assembly polls will be crucial for both parties as they vie for control in key regions like Nanded. With prominent figures like Chavan switching sides, political dynamics continue to evolve rapidly in Maharashtra.
