Ashish Patel Declares He Will Not Resign Despite Facing Corruption Allegations and Threats
Ashish Patel, leader of Apna Dal Sonewal, is facing corruption allegations from Pallavi Patel, an MLA from Sirathu. She claims that appointments in the Technical Education department were manipulated by bypassing current service rules. Despite these accusations, Ashish Patel has stated he will not resign from his ministerial position unless directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Corruption Allegations and Defence
Pallavi Patel, representing the Samajwadi Party and Apna Dal Kameravadi, accused Ashish Patel of corruption in appointing department heads. She alleged that officials ignored current rules to facilitate these appointments. In response, Ashish Patel suggested a larger conspiracy was at play behind these accusations.
Ashish Patel expressed his willingness to face a CBI inquiry, dismissing the allegations as lies. He highlighted that promotions were recommended by M Devaraj, a respected IAS officer, and approved at high levels. Despite this, he finds the ongoing media scrutiny damaging to his political reputation.
Statements and Reactions
Addressing his supporters in Lucknow, Ashish Patel challenged the Special Task Force, a state police unit. "Your name is Special Task Force, My name is Ashish Patel," he said. "You are used to shooting people in the legs; I dare you to shoot me in the chest if you have strength."
His wife, Anupriya Patel, who is also the national president of Apna Dal S, declared that the party would fight these accusations. "Conspiracy against any worker will not be tolerated, and we will give a befitting reply to the conspirators," she stated.
Ashish Patel reiterated his stance on December 15, saying he would only resign if asked by Prime Minister Modi. He emphasised that those who are guilty or fearful tend to resign under pressure. "Sack me if you want but I will not resign," he told reporters.
The allegations have led Pallavi Patel to stage a protest in the Assembly over the issue. Meanwhile, Ashish Patel claimed he was under threat of attack from the Special Task Force but did not provide further details on this assertion.
The situation remains tense as both sides continue to stand firm on their positions. The outcome of this political confrontation could have significant implications for all parties involved.
