Asaram case: Chargesheet or time for more trouble?

, Nov 7: For those who are following the Asaram legal case thorougly, do not misinterpret the 1,300-pager chargesheet that has come up against him as just a legal process. The case is taking complicated turns every single day and every development is taking an interesting turn. The chargesheet for instance states that Asaram is not the only one in the crime, but his aides are involved too who have helped him gain access to the girl. The charges against him include sexual assault, raping and illegally confining a minor.

However, Asaram is continuing to claim that he has nothing to do with the assault. Meanwhile, the rajasthan police charges that three of Asaram's aides and the warden of the hostel where the girl was lodged in Madhya Pradesh played a major role in conspiring to get the minor transported to the leader. Hence, they also have been charged for trafficking with their employer.

The 16-year old and her parents were long-time followers of the leader, but they started getting complaints from the warden this year, claiming that their daughter was possessed by evil spirits and that she needs to be taken to Bapu in Jodhpur. There, in an hour alone with the girl, the leader allegedly assaulted and raped her.

Two days later, the girl complained and the parents reached the police station. In fact, they have claimed that Asaram and his aides have threatened them with dire consequences, if the matter was reported to the police.

Just a month after the incident, two sisters accused Asaram and his son Narayan Sai for molesting them. The Gujarat police is investigating the case.
