Akola, Maharashtra: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi addressed a public meeting in Akola city of Maharashtra on Sunday, February 18, 2023. During his speech, Owaisi made several remarks about the current political scenario in India, particularly regarding the recent defections of Congress leaders to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Owaisi Comments on Ashok Chavan and Kamal Nath
Owaisi specifically mentioned the case of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, who recently joined the BJP after quitting the Congress. He also referred to the speculation surrounding Congress veteran Kamal Nath's potential move to the BJP. Owaisi questioned the true nature of the relationship between the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and the BJP, asking which party is the real team of the RSS and which is the real team of the BJP.
Owaisi Warns Against "Snakes" in Society
Owaisi urged the public to be wary of those who threaten society in the name of secularism, referring to them as "snakes." He also took a dig at Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, mentioning the ongoing political drama within the Pawar family.
Owaisi Emphasizes the Importance of Protecting Mosques
Owaisi stressed the duty of Muslims to protect mosques and never forget the significance of December 6, 1992, the date of the Babri Masjid demolition. He urged Muslims to remember the Babri Masjid as Jews remember the Holocaust and to ensure that such an incident never happens again.
AIMIM's Target for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
Owaisi set a target for AIMIM to win four seats from Maharashtra in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Maharashtra sends 48 MPs to the Lok Sabha, and AIMIM currently holds one seat, the Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency (now renamed Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar).
Owaisi's speech in Akola touched upon various political issues, including the defections of Congress leaders to the BJP, the importance of protecting mosques, and AIMIM's goals for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His remarks have generated discussion and reactions across the political spectrum in India.
