Pakistan has descended in chaos following the arrest of PTI leader Imran Khan.

The protests are huge in nature and the army and the political leadership are in disarray. The attack by Imran's supporters on the army headquarters was quite telling. No political leader in recent times has managed to change the all-powerful army in Pakistan.

Police officers and supporters of Pakistans former Prime Minister Imran Khan exchange stones during a protest against the arrest of Khan, in Karachi, Pakistan

Imran Khan was arrested on serious corruption charges. His protesters are however taking on the high and mighty Pakistan army. This has very badly hit the credibility of the army. Moreover these protests have created a major confusion in the minds of the army and political leadership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is on his way to Pakistan from London. He has called for a cabinet meeting at 6 pm. However it remains unclear whether the Pakistan Army General Asim Munir would return immediately from Oman.

Imran is not the only problem that Pakistan is facing. The economy is in a mess. The West is also looking the other way thanks to the country's proximity with China.

The US too does not want to deal with Pakistan. It may be recalled that the US had not taken kindly the allegation made by Imran Khan that it was Washington that had played a role in toppling his government.

Further the foreign exchange of Pakistan is at rock bottom. There food prices are skyrocketing and energy costs are fast rising. The threat from terror groups in Sindh, Baluchistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are also increasing. Then there is the problem along the Durand Line, which is being raised by the Taliban.

An expert on Pakistan affairs tells OneIndia that he does not see any improvement in Pakistan in the near future. The manner in which things are on at the moment, Pakistan is going to take very long before it can sort of its mess. " For now there is no hope really," the expert also said.
