As Karnataka campaign comes to a close, Congress set to launch big-wigs

    The big-wigs from the Congress are set to storm Karnataka. Sonia Gandhi would address her first rally in two years while the former prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh will address the media at Bengaluru today.

    As Karnataka campaign comes to a close, Congress set to launch big-wigs

    Sonia will be addressing a rally at Vijaypura on Tuesday. Sonia Gandhi had skipped campaigning in the state elections after she took ill midway during a roadshow in Varanasi on August 2, 2016. She had skipped campaigning for the elections at Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Gujatar, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

    The significance of the Karnataka elections can be seen from the fact that Sonia is addressing her first rally in two years. Sonia will focus on north Karnataka while her son and Congress president, Rahul Gandhi will move to the south.

    Former finance minister, P Chidambaram will also join the campaign on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he will address a press conference.

    Rajasthan Congress president, Sachin Pilot will also hit the campaign trail in a bid to woo the Rajasthani voter in the state. The others to hit the campaign trail would be Oommen Chandy, Ashok Chavan, Sushilkumar Shinde, Shashi Tharoor among others.

    Rahul Gandhi will take out a protest march in Kolar against the increase in petrol prices on Monday. He would later campaign at Bengaluru rural. He would also visit Chikkaballapur and Tumakuru on Tuesday before taking out a road show in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
