Arvind Kejriwal Skips 6th ED Summons; AAP Says 'Matter Now In Court'

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has once again missed a summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning regarding the Delhi excise policy case. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reiterated that the summonses issued to Kejriwal are "illegal" and that the matter is currently before the court.

"The ED approached the court itself. Instead of repeatedly issuing summonses, the ED should await the court's decision," the party stated.

Arvind Kejriwal Skips 6th ED Summons; AAP Says Matter Now In Court

Kejriwal has skipped all six summonses, alleging they are "illegal" and "politically motivated." The previous summonses were issued on February 2, January 18, January 3, December 22, 2023, and November 2, 2023.

A Delhi court has allowed Kejriwal to appear physically on March 16 in connection with the ED's complaint against him for missing the summonses. Kejriwal cited a debate on a trust motion in the House for his inability to appear earlier.

The court set March 16 as the next date for Kejriwal's physical appearance after he stated he would be available after March 1 due to the ongoing Budget session. The ED had filed a complaint against Kejriwal on February 3 for not complying with the summonses issued in the liquor policy case.

Kejriwal has argued that the summonses are illegal attempts to arrest him and prevent him from campaigning for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP has accused him of using the Budget session to avoid investigation into the liquor scam.
