Arvind Kejriwal May Skip 4th ED Summons, Set To Head To Goa Today

The fourth summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), directing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to appear in connection with its investigation into a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scam, is expected to be missed by him today, reported India Today.

Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to go on a three-day tour of Goa alongside Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, immediately following his participation in an education department event in the national capital at noon today.

The visit to Goa is strategically planned in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, during which he intends to engage with party workers and potentially address a public rally. When questioned about the fourth ED summons, Arvind Kejriwal informed reporters that he "will do whatever needs to be done as per law, according to Hindustan Times.

ED Summons: Arvind Kejriwal's Passive Response

Questioning on January 3 was previously skipped by the Delhi Chief Minister, asserting that the summons issued by the probe agency was deemed "illegal" and "politically motivated," with the sole intention of arresting him. "I am ready to accept every legal summons.

However, this ED summons is also illegal and politically motivated, like the previous ones. The summons should be withdrawn. I have spent my life with honesty and transparency. I have nothing to hide," said Arvind Kejriwal. He had declined to appear before the probe agency on two prior occasions, on November 2 and December 21, choosing instead to attend a 10-day Vipassana meditation camp, as per multiple media reports.

The initial summons was issued to Arvind Kejriwal in October of last year as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged money laundering linked to the liquor policy, which the Delhi government withdrew in July 2023 following corruption allegations.

Although the AAP chief had been questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in April in connection with the case, he had not been formally accused by the agency. In a related development, senior AAP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, along with another party leader, Sanjay Singh, have been arrested in the same case, reported India Today.
