Delhi Liquor Policy Case: SC Reserves Order On Arvind Kejriwal's Bail Plea; Will Pronounce Verdict On Sep 10

After hours-long hearing on Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal's bail plea, the Supreme Court of India has reserved its verdict. The Apex body will now pronounce the verdict of Arvind Kejriwal vs CBI case on September 10 in connection with money laundering related to now scrapped Delhi Liquor Policy.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan heard arguments put forward by Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, representing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Kejriwal.

"Thank you for the assistance. Judgment reserved," the bench said after the lawyers concluded their arguments. Kejriwal has filed two separate petitions challenging the denial of bail and against his arrest by the CBI in the corruption case filed by the central agency.

During the hearing, Justice Kant asked: "What is the offence alleged?" To which, Arvind Kejriwal's advocate Singhvi said, "Prevention of Corruption Act...Delhi CM's was not named in the FIR. He was only called for help in the investigation in April 2023, nearly 8 months after the FIR was filed, as a witness."

He added that CBI has no evidence against Arvind Kejriwal for any offence.
