Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Delhi Court To Hear AAP Supremo's Bail Plea Today

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday will hear Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging arrest made by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with alleged money laundering linked to now scrapped Delhi Liquor Policy. According to the reports, the AAP chief will be presented before the High Court's Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma at around 10.30 am to hear the request for immediate release claiming the arrest made by ED was "illegal".

Since the Delhi CM was arrested AAP leaders, workers and supporters have been protesting on the streets nationwide, especially in the National Capital. Aam Aadmi Party had moved to the upper court seeking justice and immediate relief, but his petition for an urgent hearing was rejected as the court was closed for Holi.

Arvind Kejriwal

Earlier, on Friday, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court sent Arvind Kejriwal to the Enforcement Directorate's custody until March 28 for questioning and interrogation. ED arrested Kejriwal after he deferred 9 summons and did not cooperate in the investigation.

Aam Aadmi Party's top 4 leaders- Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Satyendra Jain, and CM Arvind Kejriwal- are now in Jail in connection with the same case.

However, the Delhi ruling party has been claiming that it is only a conspiracy done by the BJP under the eye of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop Opposition and popular leader Arvind Kejriwal from campaigning and woo voters for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.
