Arunoday Saha Honoured with Padma Shri for Contributions to Literature and Education

Arunoday Saha, the former vice-chancellor of Tripura University, expressed joy upon being named a Padma Shri awardee for his contributions to education. Despite holding a PhD in Economics from a US state university, Saha stated that literature is his true passion. "I am really happy to find my name on this year's Padma Shri awardees list," he shared, acknowledging the recognition of his literary works.

Chief Minister Manik Saha extended his congratulations to Arunoday Saha through a Facebook post. He wrote, "Heartfelt congratulations to former vice-chancellor of Tripura University Prof Arunoday Saha ji on being conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award in Literature & Education." The Chief Minister highlighted Saha's significant impact on education and literature.

Recognition of Literary Contributions

Saha has authored ten books and received the Tripura Vibhushan award in 2023 for his exceptional work in education. His journey from a school teacher to the vice-chancellor of a central university is noteworthy. Born in 1948 in Bishalgarh, Sepahijala district, Saha's career reflects dedication and achievement.

Ratan Lal Nath, the state's Parliamentary Affairs Minister, also congratulated Saha on receiving the Padma Shri. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acknowledging Tripura's contributions. Nath stated, "Congratulations to Prof Saha for being chosen for the prestigious Padma Shri award in literature and education."

Saha expressed gratitude towards those who selected him for this honour. He remarked on the importance of having his literary efforts recognised alongside his academic achievements. "It is good that my literary works have been evaluated and recognised finally," he told the media.
